Kapowarr Guide: Simplifying Your Comic Collection

What is Kapowarr?

In simple terms, Kapowarr is software specifically designed for managing comic book libraries, belonging to the *arr suite family. If you've used Sonarr (for managing TV shows) or Radarr (for managing movies), then Kapowarr is their comic book equivalent.

What does it do? It automatically downloads, renames, and organizes your comic files, and can also automatically check for new issue releases.

Simply put, it keeps your comic collection organized, so you never have to manually sort through that messy pile of files again.

How to Use

After installing the application, open it to see the main page.

Go to Settings –> Media Management and add a new Root Folder. Enter /comics-1 in the path field.

Next, in Settings –> General, find the link shown in the image below to apply for a free Comic Vine API Key.

You need to register first.

After successful registration, you will receive an API key.

Enter the API key and save it.

Return to the comic search page and enter the comic you want to read.

Select the comic you want to download and click "Add Volume".

Return to the main page to see the comic information.

On the right side, you have automatic search and manual search. "Search Monitored" downloads the entire series with one click, or use "Manual Search" to choose which specific issues to download. Use automatic mode if you're eager to follow a series, and manual mode if you want to pick and choose.

Due to network limitations, the loading might be slow here.

Besides online search, you can also import your existing comic files.

If you already have a collection of comic files, you don't need to add them one by one manually. Use the "Import" function; Kapowarr will scan your folder and automatically identify comic information. It might not be 100% accurate, but it's much faster than manual entry.

It's recommended to organize your files with a structure like this:
