What is ExpenseOwl?

The ExpenseOwl app I'm recommending today can be described as the "minimalist" in the world of expense tracking.

Its design philosophy is: Extremely simple, doing only what an expense tracker should do.

ExpenseOwl was born to solve this problem. It only requires you to fill in 4 pieces of information:

  • Name (Optional, e.g., "Lunch")
  • Category (e.g., "Dining")
  • Amount (e.g., 25.5)
  • Date (Automatically filled with the current date)

Practical Usage Guide

After installing the app, open the home screen.

Set categories and currency in the top right corner.

Remember to save after adding.

Utilizing Import/Export Features

If you have used other expense tracking software before, you can export your data in CSV format and then import it into ExpenseOwl. As long as the CSV file contains columns like name, category, amount, and date, it will work.

However, its current main focus is 【Expense Tracking】, meaning tracking money spent; it cannot record income.

At the end of each month, open ExpenseOwl to view the pie chart and see where your money went for the month. If you notice a particular category占比 is too high, you can focus on controlling it next month.

Its data is stored in these two files on the cloud drive.

The interface only has Add and Delete functions. If you want to modify data, you can directly edit the source file.
