Simply put, ReadBridge is an AI assistant that helps you read foreign language books. You know that feeling? Holding an English novel, getting overwhelmed by unfamiliar words within the first three pages, and eventually giving up. ReadBridge is designed to solve this problem.

Practical Getting Started Guide
After installing the app, open the home screen.
Step 2: Configure AI
The first thing to do after entering is to set up the AI model. Click the settings button, and you will see these options:
API Configuration
- OpenAI: If you have ChatGPT Plus, GPT-4 is recommended
- Other Models: Supports DeepSeek, Volcano Engine, etc. Choose whichever you are comfortable with
- Important: Your API key is only stored in your browser and is not uploaded to any server
Taking DeepSeek as an example, first go to the Open Platform to create a new key.

You can customize the prompt, for example:

Step 3: Import the Book You Want to Read
ReadBridge supports various text file formats. You can:
- Paste Text Directly: The simplest way, copy and paste a piece of text
- Upload Files: Supports formats like txt, epub, etc.
Step 4: Start Reading Enjoyably
Click on a file to start reading. You will see a clean interface:

- Right: AI Assistant chat dialog
Read the current sentence. If there's something you don't understand, click on that word or the entire sentence, and an explanation will be generated on the right.
Sentence Analysis: This is the AI's plain language explanation of the entire sentence. It summarizes the main idea of the sentence in more通俗的语言, helping you quickly grasp the core information of the original text.
Sentence Rewrite: The AI rewrites the original sentence using simpler, more direct language. This feature is super practical. When you find the original expression too complex, the rewritten sentence lets you understand it at a glance.
Key Word Analysis: The AI extracts key phrases from the sentence (like "25-year student" and "experienced firsthand") and explains them in detail. It's like having a portable dictionary that provides deeper explanations, helping you better understand the specific meanings of these words in context.
Clicking on a specific word in the sentence will automatically jump to the "Word" page and provide an explanation.
There are also export, preview, and other functions here.
Don't just look up new words; try asking questions like:
- "What is the tone of this dialogue?"
- "Why did the author use this word instead of that one?"
- "What cultural background information is needed to understand this part?"
You can check the token consumption in the DeepSeek backend. Over 5k tokens cost about 3 cents. Finishing an entire book will probably only cost a few dimes, which is still very cost-effective.

ReadBridge is not a magic wand that will turn you into a language master overnight. But it is indeed a very practical tool that can make enjoying original text reading much easier.
