MapStage Tuner

MapStage Tuner

Open-source antique map tuner: elevation coloring, 3D terrain, waters & cities, globe projection; optional satellite basemap; export presets as JSON.

Description

MapStage is an open-source map style tuner (upstream MIT-licensed, github.com/hopechen067/MapStage): Mapterhorn hillshade and elevation coloring over an antique-style base, map/globe projections, region isolation, tiered city markers and tone filters — with one-click JSON preset export for other map projects or agents. The LazyCat edition packages the tuner as a purely static local app: the UI and all vector data are bundled, so no public demo page is needed; static assets get long-term caching for faster repeat visits; the JSON download entry is wired into the LazyCat file chooser (choose Local or LazyCat Drive on save). No satellite imagery is loaded by default: the default view is rendered from open terrain data (Mapterhorn DEM, CC-BY) and open vector data (OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap, ODbL), with attributions kept in the UI. A satellite basemap is optional — off by default, and the app shows a data-terms notice when it is switched on; user-provided licensed sources can be configured as well.
