Description

Gobookmarks is a dynamic bookmarking home page tool built in Go that is designed to allow you to see a list of links maintained by you every time you open the browser. It innovatively replaces traditional database storage with Git platforms such as GitHub or GitLab to achieve a lightweight, highly controllable bookmark management system. The original project originated from goa4 web‑ bookmarked, and then through ChatGPT optimization and adjustment, the "reference SQL" architecture was changed to a Git warehouse based management method. ⸻ core feature · Git-driven storage: Bookmarks are stored in the bookmarks.txt file in the user's GitHub/GitLab repository rather than in the database, simplifying the system structure and managing historical changes through version control. · Lightweight and convenient: Very little reliance, you can automatically create and manage your own bookmark warehouse by logging in and configuring it once after deployment. The experience is similar to a "start page" or a "bookmark board". · Plain text format configuration: bookmarks.txt supports simple and easy-to-read label formats, and customize structures such as Category, Column, Page, Tab, etc. to be clear and intuitive. · Flexible deployment method: Docker deployment, GitHub container imaging, and the pre-compiled version provided by the author can also be used. The deployment threshold is extremely low. · Developer friendly: Supports multiple login methods such as local database, Git local repository, GitHub, and GitLab, which is suitable for single or multi-person collaborative use scenarios.
